The Ashley Wood Golf Course is a Downland Golf Course designed by P Tallack at a length of 6,308 it has 18 holes with a medal par of 70 and a 70 SSS Rating. Situated in the town of Blandford Forum it is one of the South West Golf Courses that you may want to play and add to our golf course ratings to see if it will become one of the RateYourCourse best golf courses.
Ashley Wood is a friendly and welcoming golf club, originally established over 100 years ago, which offers very good facilities situated in a beautiful part of Dorset making it a good choice when choosing South West Golf Courses . It is predominantly a downland golf course which drains quickly in the wettest weather and enjoys outstanding views of the surrounding countryside; in addition four holes are played within the Ashley Woods ancient woodland which is carpeted with bluebells in May.
Ashley Wood Golf Club was built by Sir William Henry Smith-Marriott in 1896 after becoming bored with the usual leisure activities of the day. Ashley Wood was the fifth Golf Club to be formed in Dorset, following Bridport 1891, Isle of Purbeck 1892, Lyme Regis 1893 and Sherborne 1894.
