After travelling past the course on many occasions we decided to play a mid-afternoon round on a Saturday.

Early signs were good, with helpful and friendly staff in the pro shop and a showpiece decoration on the first tee. Unfortunately the rest of the course did not live up to expectation.

The green's has been spiked, which was not conveyed to us either when I telephoned to book the tee or when we first arrived. This meant that putting was a near impossible task with three and four putts the norm. As is understandable the odd section of fairway was under repair but the overall feel of the course was generally dirty, with debris and dead animals everywhere. The main water feature was riddled with dead and rotting animals.

We managed to attend using a discount voucher which made the course half price, I would have asked for a refund had I paid full price. I can only presume the golf course is the hotels lowest priority as there was a distinct lack of maintenance staff out on the course, unlike almost every other course I have attended.

Overall, very disappointing for a Menzies Hotel Course.
