Most of the Golf courses listed on this site fall into the category of Parkland Golf Courses , if however you search on the internet it will be hard to find a definition. They are normally made made to resemble classical parks with a fair amount of large trees.
By this we can determine that it takes a lot of time for a Parkland Golf course to mature to its full potential. These Golf courses are normally categorised by having large expanses of water as opposed to a links that may have a small stream or burn as it is known in Scotalnd. The water normally adds to the difficulty of the Golf course and is to be found off the tee and alongside the fairway. Many shots will need to be played over the water adding anxiety to most club golfers.Unlike links bunkers which are deep Parkland bunkers are noramally shallower and in general are larger. The Parkland course generallly does not have the same number of bunkers as I links course and the sand is typically less course.Parkland Golf courses are generally longer than links golf courses as they generally dont have the so called protection of the wind. The grass on the fairways is not as short as links grass and you wouldnt expect large amounts of run as that are normally irrigated and kept soft. The greens on a typical Parkland Golf course are not as large as links greens and they are receptive to approach shots. The classic bump and run technique is not really an effective tool and most chip shots need to be elevated to fly bunkers and water. The trees that surround the fairways add to the tightness of the Golf course and the player often feels so called tunnel vision on many shots.
