The St Mellion Golf Course, The Kernow Course is a Parkland Golf Course designed by H J Stutt at a length of 5,500 it has 18 holes with a medal par of 68 and a 68 SSS Rating. Situated in the town of St Mellion it is one of the South West Golf Courses that you may want to play and add to our golf course ratings to see if it will become one of the RateYourCourse best golf courses.

With the arrival of the Jack Nicklaus Signature Course in 1988, the Kernow course was somewhat overshadowed, until in 2008 it was completely redeveloped, incorporating 9 of the original holes, extended and modernised, along with nine exciting new holes. With wider fairways, larger greens and spectacular views the Kernow course is a wonderful complement to the Jack Nicklaus Signature Course.

I have just spent a few days at St Mellion and found the course to be fun to play but its not much of a test. The 9's are very different front 9 is a normal length but the back is very short but good fun, if you hit it long enough you can drive most of the par 4's but you can get in trouble. Found the staff to be great make you feel welcome.

In my golf course review I found this course not very challenging. I have not played this course for few years and they have built some new holes on both 9's, the front 9 holes are good to play not much change from the old lay out, as for the back it was far better with the old holes there are 5 par 4's that I drove, 2 of the par 4 are very short only around 230 yards it's far to short the back 9 is only around 2300 yards long has to be the shortest 9 holes I have ever play on a proper 18 hole course its a shame they changed the course it was so much better. The course was in ok condition the greens had just had work done on them but you could tell they will be great in a few weeks time. If your looking to play a good testing course stick with the Nicklaus course there. The staff are great they will really look after you.
A good fun course but in no way is it a good test.
