For my Golf Course Review of The Dorset Golf and Country Club Lakeland Course I first visited the courses excellent practice facility that has covered bays so you won't have to worry about getting wet. Another great feature of the course facilities is the putting green which will give you a great idea of how fast the greens on the course are going to be.

The course has been designed by Martin Hawtree who has done a great job of bringing in the water hazards into play on many of the holes which will gather any wayward shots. Another aspect of the course which I really enjoyed is that there are many risk and reward holes. You wont have to hit driver on every hole so the course will keep you thinking on each hole with a variety of club selections. So the course has a little bit in it for all golfers including long par 5's for the big hitters and tight driving holes for the Iron specialists.

The greens are one of the best features of the golf course and when I played were really very fast and they remained so during the full 18 holes. Downhill putts were very challenging but it was great to be able to putt with a good stroke and not have to smash the ball like most other courses in the Dorset area.

The course has Red, Yellow, White and blue tees which are for the really good golfers and will move the course up top championship yardage of 7000 Plus. Having played a few times from these tee's I can say that the course will challenge even the longer hitters, but it provides a fair challenge from the other tees as well.

When it comes to the business end of the course The Dorset Golf and Country Club, Lakeland Course provides all golfers with an excellent test of Golf for those of you who are more social it also provides full catering and bar facilities. The green staff do a great job in keeping the course neat and tidy and they tend to keep the rough cut low to avoid so play which I think is a great idea.

In summary this is a really great course to play and will definitely challenge your Golf game it is one of the top Golf Courses in the Dorset Area.

For my Golf Course Review of the The Dorset Golf and Country Club, Lakeland Course I have played it a few times now on society days plus and overnight stay and have enjoyed myself every time. Its a very challenging but fair course with superb large undulating greens. Many water features and clover shaped bunkers make it very interesting and its important to think and plot your way round. The range and practice facilities are very good which I rated 9 out of 10. The clubhouse and restaurant and superb. Every meal I have had was delicious and the staff are extremely helpful and friendly. We had some terrible rain on one occasion and the greens flooded but drained brilliantly and were playable within half an hour. The Scandinavian Log Home accommodation is truely stunning with all the facilities I needed and I can see how they have obtained a 5 star grading from the British tourist board. This is a must if you are looking for a venue in Dorset to play golf, and I would certainly recommend this venue.

For my Golf Course Review of The Dorset Golf and Country Club, Lakeland Course I found that despite the wet weather over the last couple of days the fairways were not as good as they should have been compared to other courses in the area and I rated them 6 out of 10. The Tees were not very good but the greens were good and they got an 8 out of 10 in general the Cleanliness and Manicuring of the Course was average. The Layout and Design of the Course is pretty good and it does make the Challenge presented by the Course a stiff one. To summarize the The Dorset Golf and Country Club is good value for money and my overall Enjoyment of the course was 7 out of 10.

In my Golf Course Review of the The Dorset Golf and Country Club, Lakeland Course I found that the course has wide fairways compared to courses in the area but that the greens are difficult with loads of slopes. The course has great facilities especially the putting green which is the best in the area and this give the golfers a chance to brush up on their chipping. Our group spent time in the clubhouse which has a full catering section with excellent food. In summary although the course is probably the most testing in the area in my opinion it lacks atmosphere.

In my golf course review I would say that this is the best testing golf course in Dorset. Its long off the back tees; just over 7000 yards and it has a great mix of holes. There is plenty of water coming into play on 10 holes. The course is in good condition during the summer months but gets very wet in the winter. Its a shame this course probably has some of the worst condition bunkers of anywhere with lots of stones and they are not raked that well by players, plus the sand is very inconsistent. If you play in the winter you will find the bunkers are full of water. It can be slow to play as you get a lot of visitors and hotel guests, which proves its a popular course to play. Members and staff are very friendly and you get great food in the clubhouse. This is one of the best courses in Dorset!

There are 27 holes at the Dorset Golf and Country Club. The most challenging course to play is the Lakeland, which is the main 18. A great challenge from every tee, from yellow back to championship tees. The Woodland 9 is a short but challenging course in amongst rhododendrons. Looks fantastic when in full bloom. Very friendly members and staff are always very helpful and friendly.

A challenging Golf Course and one of the best in the area, maybe not as tight as some of the others but very long.
