In my golf course review of The Shire I found the course to be a good test. You have 6 par 3/4/5 which is a little unusual the par 3' s are all a good test from short to long and with water in play on 5 of them. You do have a feel that the club is only interested in making money as course was packed and very slow to get round and its not cheap to play for what you get. Course was in good condition but the greens very slow, I think they would of been ok with a good cut. Pro shop is not great it feels more like a reception with a few things to sell, not a very warm welcome. Its a fair course to play

In my golf course review I found the greens were in good condition and the rest of the course was fair. The course has 6 par 3's and they are all great you start with a par 3 surrounded by water so make sure you hit the correct club. You also have 6 par 4/5's but the par 3's are the best part of the course. There is a range its not long so the ball's are not great but good enough to warm up, balls are not cheap. The putting green is also not great as it has to much slope on it so you don't get a good feel for the greens before you play but again its ok to warm up on. You dont feel like you get a warm welcome like most clubs. They have a good clubhouse to have a drink after your round.
