The Welwyn Garden City Golf Course is a Parkland Golf Course designed by Hawtree at a length of 6114 it has 18 holes with a medal par of 70 and a 69 SSS Rating. Situated in the town of  Welwyn Garden City it is one of the East Anglia Golf Courses that RateYourCourse recommends that you not only play but provide a golf course review for our golf communities.

Welwyn Garden City Golf Course situated within 10 miles of the M25, near to Junction 4/5 of the A1(M), Welwyn Garden City Golf Club has a reputation for consistently providing members and guests with a course that is amongst the best in the area. Established in 1923, this was where Nick Faldo played golf in his early years.

The course today, at first sight, gives the impression of a relatively easy test of golf - beware, with its narrow fairways and small greens there are many scorecards of excellent golfers that tell a different story.

Golf Course Review of Welwyn Garden City Golf Course.Since the start of the 2011 season the course has undergone many new changes such as the re design of the bunkering on holes 3 and 5 which have greatly improved the course. The new Professional (Stuart Mason) has also transformed the pro shop which is now fully equipped with the newest clubs and equipment as well as new clothes and shoes. The outside area of the bar has also been developed which now looks like a 5 star hotel rather than a club house. The practice ground remains the only disappointment but due to the lacking of space and nearby housing it will be a very difficult and costly operation to improve. The Course it self is in fantastic condition all year round with the greens generally rolling true, the fairways and tees in great condition and the bunkers tough but mostly fair. Despite the shortness of the course it remains a tricky test with some very narrow fairways and difficult greens providing a difficult test for all golfers. The course has produced the golfing legend Nick Faldo and is the home club of young sensation Tom Lewis who led the British open this year and will play in the Walker Cup this coming weekend.

Nick Faldo M.B.E. was a junior member at Welwyn Garden City and he won the club championship twice, in 1974 and 1975.

I played the course in the Commemoration Jug, the course was in fantastic condition, the practice putting green was one of the best i have ever putted on, and the atmosphere at the club is excellent.

The Welwyn Garden City Golf Course can be played all year round and the course is always in great condition as was the case when I did my golf course review. Many tricky holes with accuracy off the tees essential. Par 3's are varied in length and difficulty ranging from 130-200 yards. 600 yard 17th one of the best par 5's I've played with an elevated green ad tee with your tee shot and layup in one of the 2 valleys the course is clevery designed around and in. Very hilly in places with no holes that seem similar.
