The Yeovil Golf Course, The Old Course is a Parkland Golf Course designed by Hugh Allison at a length of 6,087 it has 18 holes with a medal par of 71 and a 70 SSS Rating. Situated in the town of Yeovil it is one of the South West Golf Courses that you may want to play and add to our golf course ratings to see if it will become one of the RateYourCourse best golf courses.

Set in beautiful Dorset countryside on the eastern edge of town on the main A30, Yeovil Golf Club offers spectacular views with the superb 18 Hole Old Course and the 9 Hole Newton Golf Courses. Both courses are superbly presented and provide a golfing challenge and individual character. For those not so proficient the courses do nothing to discourage the beginner.

This is a great Parkland Golf Course dating back to 1907 with loads of history. It was a pity that the greens had just been hollow tined so they were not at their best but according the locals this summer they had been the best in years. The course itself has some really great holes one of which is the stroke 1 14th that at 468 yds is very long but also has a very difficult blind tee shot. In addition the views over the local countryside are spectacular and the Golfer really gets a feeling of being out in the Country although the course is close to Yeovil Town.

Good course, great scenery and some excellent facilities but unfortunately the greens were very poor on the day - but that's been true of a number of courses lately due to the lack of rain in March and April so bear that in mind. I would recommend Yeovil to anyone who wants a fun but challenging day of golf and good luck playing the 15th!
